Social Work Association volunteers to recruit for the LaSalle University Blood Drive (Pictures)

We were at the Tree Top Cafe on Thursday October 30th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. getting the student body to "give up their blood." The spirit of Halloween was in the air.

I wish we had vampire suits.
It would have made the night even better!
Shout out to Branden Garrett a Central High School
Student who also takes classes at LaSalle University.

Shout out to Nadia Casildo a Criminal Justice
Freshmen at LaSalle University.

Shout out to all the students who signed up to
donate blood that evening.

Of course we had to take some selfies!

There is still some time to donate blood! Sign up below with Lane Neubauer.

Welcome to LaSalle Social Work Association

Dear Members,

It has been several weeks since you have signed up for the Social Work Association at La Salle University (Some of you during the Student Activities Fair and some of you during class). Many of you have asked, "What is the purpose of the Social Work Association?"

Collaboration:

We open the Social Work Association to all majors on campus. As members of the student body we all have the same Lasallian values which is to provide service to the most vulnerable and disadvantage populations of our communities. As Social Work students the core principles are values of service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. We all share a common goal to help others, improve and enhance the quality of life in our communities.

Passion:

"Will you speak up, stand up and advocate for change and social welfare?"

Who do you want to help? What policies do you want to change or advocate for? Be the change you want to see in your community! This is the forum to do so. Bring your passion and appetite for social justice to our meetings. We are just as thirsty and hungry for positive change to occur within our communities and society as you are.

Meetings:

Day: The first meeting was on Wednesday October 1, 2014 at 1:00 in Olney Hall,  Room 325.

Evening: TBD.
Note: Please send me a quick email on day and time suggestions. I will put together a meeting date based on consensus and most convenient to all.

Up and Coming Projects, Events and Ideas:

"Wake Up Everybody!" A photography project.

Take a Selfie.
Include your name, major and social justice issue you want to raise awareness about (In 250 words or less).
Photos will be edited and showcased on the 3rd Floor in Olney Hall.

"Guest Blogger."

Do you have an announcement? Would you like to have a forum to address issues that you want the Social Work Association to support you on? This is your platform. Submit your ideas.

"T-Shirt Design."

We are looking for a quote to put on our T-shirt. Do you have an inspiring quote?
I have one: "I used to pray for somebody to speak out, to stand up and defend our liberties...then I realized, I am Somebody."
If you like the quote, vote yes via email.
If you want to offer your own inspirational quote, please send me an email. (I will not be offended.)

Final Note:

This is OUR organization. Your input is important to help shape and grow the Social Work Association. We need YOU to build and strengthen our organization and together we will grow!
